Wait, what? The Slave Hunters? Got feelings about that title? I know I did. Feelings, yes, but specifically… anger? No, more like $#@$#@$#%$@2!

Nope, not what you're thinking at all. Well sorta, not really. This show is not about African or Caribbean slavery, but rather Korean slavery. The escaping of slaves, the hunting of slaves, the lives of slaves, and the eventual uprising of slaves.

Uh huh. Yeah. That happened. I'm not here to give history lessons. If you're curious, go look them shits up. For real. GO LOOK IT UP. Don't let the opportunity to learn about another culture and its history pass you by. DO IT! And then hurry back to my blog... I'll wait for you mofo.

Back to the review yo. Chuno, aka The Slave Hunters was emotionally charged, long, and wallowed in the sweet frustration of love triangles that only Kdramas can offer. It was fucking superb!! Will they!? No they didn't. Oh, but wait... here's another chance! And, no again. Back and forth. Start and stop. Push and pull. This show literally had me screaming at the lead lady character like she owed me money ("Heifer! Get ya shit together! Why are you so lame? Just go burn yourself. Except for like two dudes, no one is going to miss you. Shit.") Or something like that.

I highly recommend that you watch the show on the streaming service VIKI. There is a comment feature that can be turned off and on at anytime while viewing. These are comments in real playing time of the show... so if you start loosing ya shit about someone getting the business over something trivial, another viewer is thinking the same thing. And posts that thought in hilarious fashion. The Best thing ever!

The real reason you HAVE to watch Chuno is the best reason to watch anything. JANG HYUK. For reals, he is the most underappreciated actor outside of Korea (and maybe Japan. And China. And well maybe the Philippines too. Shit, basically anywhere outside of Asia, most people are like Jang who?) This actor brings serious intensity to any project he selects. The acting is so damn intense at times, crying or taking a shower seem to be your only options as a reaction. Random? Yeah well, come holla at me once you've watched this dude cry in a traumatic scene. On the real, his acting makes you realize that other acting you've seen for years has been raccoon shit. Sorry raccoons.

Other than having better acting chops than Wolverine's side chops, he is seriously not hard to look at. I'm gonna just leave this right here...

Aww yeah, I almost forgot another thing about this show. The OST. The Original Soundtrack thing is a big thing with Kdramas. There is a one in Chuno that is super emotional and enhances the shit out of scenes. There's sometimes like an average of 3 main songs that just keep getting played at significant moments (or any random ass scene for that matter). While with others, there may be a whole damn soundtrack with like 7-10 songs. It's a whole world that I will explore in later posts... a lot. (Be warned).

There is so much more I want to share about this show. But, I really want you to give it a go. So I'll just shut the fuck up. Instead, I'll just say this; Kdramas often do not have very happy endings. Heh heh heh. Now go and get your tissues ready for watching Chuno!

On to the next one girls...
